Cyclists Invited to Take to the Streets in 2012 Trenton Bike Tour
Over 200 riders will tour historic city during 16th annual event

TRENTON, N.J. —Bicycle enthusiasts, families, kids, local neighbors and out-of-towners are invited to attend the 16th Annual Trenton Bike Tour through historic Trenton on Saturday, May 19, 2012, organized by local cycling advocacy group Trenton Cycling Revolution and partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton and Mercer County.

Beginning and ending at The 1719 William Trent House Museum, the bike tour will be a leisurely 15-mile, police-escorted ride through Trenton’s historic streets and sights, diverse neighborhoods and community gardens.

As a part of National Bike Month, the tour aims to highlight the tourist attractions of the city, promote healthy lifestyles, and raise awareness of bicycle safety throughout the region for avid, commuting and recreational bicyclists. On Thursday, March 1, Trenton’s City Council passed one of the most comprehensive Complete Streets policies in the state of New Jersey. “The Trenton Bike Tour provides a great opportunity to see our city’s hidden gems. It is also a chance to demonstrate the importance of our new Complete Streets policy and maintaining a safe, healthy street system for all users,“ said Dan Fatton, chair of the Trenton Cycling Revolution.

This year’s event is sponsored by the Princeton Area Community Foundation, AAA, Capital Health, Isles, Saker Shop Rites, and Knapp’s Cyclery.

Notable tour highlights include South Riverwalk Park, Riverview Cemetery, War Memorial, New Jersey State House and a loop through Trenton’s crown jewel, the Olmsted-designed Cadwalader Park.
